On June 25, Canton Network quietly reached a significant milestone as 13 Super Validators and 200+ Validators successfully upgraded to Canton 3.3 and Splice 0.4.0, without disruption or fanfare. The upgrade seamlessly rolled out new capabilities and features, including new app developer tools and APIs, smart contract upgrades, token standards and wallet capabilities without disrupting application builders or users. When the network evolves, it does so reliably and quietly, just the way institutions need it to.
“Canton’s recent major upgrade across the 200+ validators and operators of its decentralized infrastructure proves that institutional blockchain has finally arrived. Distributed upgrades are just working and quietly happening on Canton, and it’s this high resiliency and reliability we need when mission-critical financial flows are at stake.”
Justin Peterson, CTO, Tradeweb
In the last year, transactional activity across the public network has grown rapidly with the network now exceeding 2 TPS. Daily transfers and events related to the network’s utility token, Canton Coin now exceed 2.5M a day, up from <100K in March 2025, demonstrating the increasing utility and adoption of applications on the network and Canton Coin as a means of on-chain payment.
“Canton Network has moved way beyond pilot phase, daily cash transfers via its Canton Coin, the network’s settlement token, now exceed two million transfers. Over the last few months, we’ve seen more momentum on Canton Network than for any other network. Digital Asset’s mantra to “meet customers where they are” means that they have achieved something very rare: a public network with institutional-grade privacy.”
Lazlo Szabo, Co-Founder and CEO, Kiln
Seamless technical execution is not the only story. It was the speed and coordination with which the upgrade was executed. From announcement to completion, the MainNet upgrade was accomplished across participants within 24 hours.
“No hype or flashy videos - just the kind of boring performance, reliability, relentless iteration that makes decentralization networks work at scale. Unlike other networks, Canton Network makes the hard stuff look boring and that’s a good thing.“
Yiannis Varelas, Founder, Five North
Unlike the phased, disruptive upgrade cycles often seen in public networks, Canton’s rapid and synchronized rollout is notable; participants in the ecosystem are highly engaged, with deep operational alignment in part fuelled by a shared conviction: that when it comes to institutional blockchain, privacy isn’t an afterthought. With Canton, you don’t need to upgrade to get privacy - it just works. Canton was architected for it from day one and at the protocol level. This enables institutions to merge the real-time composability promises of DeFi rails, without compromising on the control and compliance they require.
"Canton doesn't just push upgrades. A weekly operations cadence means that upgrades are predictable and thoroughly validated through DevNet and TestNet before MainNet deployment. As a key entry point to the network our customers rely on the resilience of the Canton infrastructure we manage and the latest upgrade executed flawlessly in record time because we had already proven it twice. This is the kind of systematic, meticulous approach that breeds confidence and trust when running business-critical infrastructure."
Noah Cornwell, Chief Technology Officer, Dfns
The third major upgrade in the last year, this latest milestone demonstrates the Canton Network community’s focus on reliably and continuously shipping the value added features that respond to market and participant demands.
